A highly relevant international agricultural and food industrial conference took place in Gödöllő between 31st of August and 5th of September supported by the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Szent István University, the Agricultural Engineering Board of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA AMB), the Hungarian Electro technical Association, EurAgEng, CIGR and the Hungarian Institute of Agricultural Engineering (FVM MGI).
The appointed aims of the conference – according to the earlier introduced traditions – were based on the review of the results of technical development obtained by modern technologies and their applications in the industry. In addition, to support and reveal the cooperation between agricultural-, industrial-, energetic-, educational-, research areas, and possible ways of synergies, and to promote the efficient connection of certain economical segments.
During the six days of the conference the participants came to know the different major directions of technical researches through the organized 6 sessions and the posters on display at the Hall of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty. The emphasis were on the development of agricultural – food industrial manufacturing and processing technologies, measurement techniques, ecology, modern management methods, priorities in the research of alternative energetic technologies, solar energy, geothermal energy, wind energy and biomass in order to widely propagate the application of these technologies and to satisfy the growing needs in energy.
Tamás Bíró – the Head of Division at Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development- greeted the conference in the beginning of the plenary session. The opening presentations were held by Dr. Reiner Brunsh, director of Institute of Agriculture, Potsdam-, and Dr. János Beke, president of the MTA AMB.
During the conference many successful companies could be visited, thus the participants came to know the national energy-transfer based on alternative energy sources, agricultural engineering and manufacturing, and some of the commercial companies and their activities (IKR Rt., Kühne Rt., Wind power station at Kulcs, Paksi Atomic Power Station (Atomerőmű Zrt.), Axiál Kft., KITE Rt.).
Participants arrived from 30 different countries all over the world, and got familiar with the cultural, traditional, geographical and historical background of our country through the colorful cultural programs.
The Mechanical Engineering Faculty was pleased to provide a place to this conference which was in the lime light of the scientific interests, since getting to know at first hand the latest results of national and international workshops and to implement them into the major education, is the first condition to maintain a place in the frontline of higher education.
The organizers would like to open wide the gates of the university every two years to welcome and foreshow the new results of technical research and development.
Plenary session presentations available for download:
Reiner Brunsch and Claire Nicolas: Maximization of biomass production – opportunities and risks for environment, technology and employment in rural areas
János Beke: Energy, sustainability, agricultural engineering
Tamás Bíró: Mechanization and renewabe energy in the multifunctional hungarian agriculture
